Overview
The Building Department conducts inspections on construction projects and unsafe structures, issues permits and licenses to contractors and manages the city’s code enforcement efforts, such as property maintenance and cleanliness.
Inspections
All rough-in building, electrical, heating, cooling and plumbing inspections must be called in at least one business day before the inspection is needed. Required paperwork must be submitted by the general and sub-contractors before a final inspection can be scheduled.
Continuing Education
Residential and commercial general contractors along with electricians holding an active license must submit six hours of approved continuing education each year when renewing their license(s).
