The New Albany Municipal Utilities, better known as the Sewer Billing Office, oversees the wastewater billing for the city.  There are approximately 17,000 customers that received bills - 14,000 to users of Indiana-American Water within the city limits and 3,000 users billed directly by the Municipal Utilities in unincorporated areas. New Albany Municipal Utilities also bills in-house for roughly 2,000 commercial stormwater accounts.

The office is governed by the Sanitary Sewer Board, chaired by Ron Carroll.

Summer Watering Programing
By city ordinance, the discount begins with your June use of water and continues through the month of September. During the program, a six-month winter average is required to calculate the amount to be billed.

Stormwater Run-Off Program
The Environmental Protection Agency has developed a program to reduce the amount of pollutants carried off by rainfall and stormwater run-off. This program requires certain towns, cities and counties to develop a program for preventing the pollution of local waterways by stormwater run-off and submit their program for permit to state regulators.
