The Plan Commission works in urban planning, historic preservation and transportation planning. Responsible for the daily operations of the office, staff members routinely process and report to the Plan Commission board on zoning requests, provide plan and zoning information to the public, represent the city on regional planning boards such as the Ohio River Greenway and Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency, issue Improvement Local Permits, develop transportation projects and advice city government units with regard to land use and planning activities. Other major areas of responsiblity include long range planning, zoning ordinance preparation, development review, subdivision review and zoning enforcement.
