The Mayor's Community Prayer Breakfast was started in New Albany to unify the community before the holiday season. The first one was started by Mayor Garnett "Tuffy" Inman in December of 1969, but for the past 20 years it’s been in November, before Thanksgiving. Former speakers include former WDRB news anchor Barry Bernson, Bellarmine basketball coach Scotty Davenport, and jockey Pat Day. The event features fellowship and breakfast, music, and a mediation or speaker. This is a non-denominational event, but the message has a spiritual focus.
On this, our 44th year for the Prayer Breakfast, we are honored to have Joe Pusateri as our guest speaker. Joe has been involved in the community for over three decades. He is the owner of Elite Homes, the company that built the house in Louisville for the Hughes family for the hit television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Joe also helped organize a rescue package to help save the Louisville Orchestra. Over the years, Joe has given hundreds of speeches on a wide range of topics. His talks are funny, fast moving, inspirational, and loaded with important lessons that the audience will use in their business and personal lives.
The breakfast is Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the New Albany High School cafeteria. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. and breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m. Tickets are $7.00 in advance and $8.00 at the door and can be purchased at the Mayor’s office or from any committee member.
